We are now in the advanced stages of planning our FLU IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME and will be contacting eligible patient groups with details shortly.
This year the flu vaccination programme has been expanded to protect vulnerable people and support the NHS. As well as the usual patients who qualify, a free vaccine will also be available to:
- People who are on the shielded patient list and members of their household
- All school year groups up to year 7 (only 2-3 year olds will be done at the practice, the rest will be offered via school)
- People aged over 65, pregnant women, those with pre-existing conditions including at-risk under 2 year olds
- People aged under 65 and in other eligible groups, for example if you have heart disease, have had a stroke, diabetes, chronic lung disease, asthma if on medication, chronic liver disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic neurological disease (e.g. Parkinson's), immunosuppressed or weakened immune system, morbidly obese (defined as BMI of 40 or over), learning disability, carers, pregnant women
People aged 50-64 (who do NOT have a pre-existing condition) will be invited later in the season for vaccination (November/December and depending on vaccination availability)
Whilst the NHS is under tremendous strain at the moment, we are committed to delivering this years’ flu jab to all of our qualifying patients. Having your flu jab with your GP practice is important as, unlike a local community pharmacy, we will have full access to your medical records.
We will provide patients with regular updates on the flu vaccination programme through our website, social media and text messages. Your formal invitation will arrive by letter.
Please do not contact the practice to arrange your appointment. We will contact you in the coming weeks.
