About our Appointments System

Urgent (Same Day) Appointments

We offer some 'same day' appointments.  These can be booked on-line or via reception.  

In addition, we also operate a triage system for urgent problems that cannot wait for a routine appointment.

If you feel that your medical problem cannot wait for a routine appointment call us on 01780 782342. Urgent appointments are booked by our emergency care practitioners on the day, usually at Wansford.

General Information

Routine Appointments

One appointment is needed for each patient and each appointment is normally for ten minutes. To help maintain your continuity of care, please ask to see the doctor you usually consult.

We Try to Stay on-Time with Appointments

If you are kept waiting, we apologise. The doctor may be dealing with an emergency or a complicated problem. If there is a delay and this creates a problem please talk to the receptionist.

Training Practice

Wansford & Kings Cliffe Practice is an active GP training practice and you may be given an appointment with a GP registrar; a fully qualified doctor who is undertaking special training under our supervision.

Some consultations are recorded on video for teaching purposes. Please be reassured that we would always let you know in advance and would only record your consultation with your consent.

Telephone Advice

Telephone Advice may include queries about a prescription, a test result, a hospital appointment, a referral, a form that needs to be completed or advice about a minor ailment. Please call and ask the receptionist who will be able to help you.

Telephone Consultations with your Doctor or Nurse

We offer GP and Nurse telephone consultations. These can be pre-booked for a call back by GP or Nurse. 

NHS 111

Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.

Chaperones

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

You can use one of the following methods:

  2. By Telephone: Please call us on 01780 782342.
  3. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
